Welcome back to day 29 in our Get Hired job search blog series. How many tips have you implemented this month?
Question of the Day: Do you remember your last high school science fair project and research paper?
I am a huge proponent of education and because I understand that education can open doors to many opportunities. Your earning potential is tied to what you know.
Job search tip #28: Commit to Continuous Learning
The 21st century workplace requires that we possess not only technical skills, but strong communication and problem solving skills. Specialization seems to be the job trend of today and the future. Unless you are already working in a growing field or are a new graduate, you may be considering additional education to boost your employment potential. After all, education means higher pay and added value to a company right?
Your formal education includes your degrees, diplomas, and certificates. I am not proposing that you enroll in college or a certificate program. There is also value in self-directed learning. Dont overlook the power of attending seminars, conferences, conventions and trade shows to increase your understanding of a subject or industry and build your professional network. I also recommend that you research courses from local your recreation department, adult learning center, or employment training center and even consider creating your own independent research project to immerse yourself in a new subject.
Stay tuned for job search tip #29 tomorrow.
