Job search tip #29: Contribute to Your Community
Whether serving as a tutor, receptionist, event planner, landscape artist, or member on a board of directors, volunteering can help job seekers learn new skills, build social connections, and perform in leadership positions. Serving your community allows you to utilize your professional skills and show employers that you are engaged in the employment world. Gaining in-depth knowledge about a specific cause or industry can elevate your self-confidence. In some instances volunteering can be an entry point into the job of your dreams.
