GET INVOLVED FOR TEEN GIRLS IN FOSTER CARE
16th Annual Pack A Purse™ Drive Begins November 1, 2022
JaMai has organized her Annual Pack A Purse™ Holiday Drive to collect purses and personal care items for teenage girls in group homes, shelters, and the foster care system. The drive begins in November and the purses are delivered before Christmas Day each year.
Since 2007, JaMai has organized this annual drive and collected and delivered 8,310 purses to 71 organizations that support teen girls in group homes, foster care, and homeless shelters.
During her freshman year in high school, she learned that children in foster care often taken from their homes with only the clothes on their backs or that many move from home to home with their personal belonging in garbage bags. JaMai wanted to get involved. She believed that children deserved better. As she thought about the things that are special to her as a teenage girl, she decided to organize a Pack A Purse Drive to provide personal care items in purses to teen girls in homeless shelters, group homes, and the foster care system. This allows the girls to have basic necessities and something of their own that can be used again and again.
Only new and gently used purses in good condition are accepted. Trendy and stylish purses are good, but dark, solid colors are best. Trial size and regular size personal care items/toiletries are accepted. Packaged For Success (formerly The Teen Toolbox) co-sponsors this annual drive.
