Who just realized they slipped back into juggling/planning too many things at once?!?!
Yep, that’s right!
It’s me again! 🤦🏾♀️🙋🏾♀️🤷🏽♀️
These deadlines I set were MY deadlines and I could have given myself more time to do ‘all the things’ or not decided to do ‘all the things’ at the same time! #WhewChile
I’m a continual work in progress – and that’s OK with me!
What does this mean? It means I’m readjusting my life and my calendar.
In my mind, my birthday is an international holiday that should be observed and celebrated. I never want to work on my birthday (ever again) but working to launch and announce the launch of two new things on my birthday would require me to do just that.
No ma’am.
Truthfully, instead of freely celebrating the lead-up to my birthday, I’ve been working more.
Executive Decision: Stay tuned for a special announcement on Wednesday, April 12, 2023.
Birthday Behavior: Granting myself grace
Although I had plans for the Millennial Social Work Conference months in advance and had even booked my flight, I didn’t book my hotel until 3 days before my departure. I had NE tickets and my flight months in advance but didn’t book my hotel until 4 days before my trip. I don’t like being my own travel agent which is why I am no longer committed to being your travel agent LOL. I do enough research and make enough decisions in my regular life that making travel itineraries is often frustrating or overwhelming for me. Same with deciding what’s for dinner 7 days a week.
I believe that working on all these extra things is part of the reason I haven’t finalized a big 50th birthday trip. I also had to ask myself if I am letting myself down if I travel a week after April 8th or a month after my birthday. Is my ego attached to the date? Perfectionism?
I definitely experience decision overload, but when I decide something it’s a done deal. I had birthday ideas but not a concrete plan or specific goals. Also asking myself if the fear of turning 50 is somehow wrapped up in the overscheduling. I’m still unsure how I will spend my birthday, but I do still plan to celebrate my birthday all year long and that will look different at different times of the year.
