9. What kind of personality do you work best with and why?
10. What are you most proud of?
There are also questions that are illegal for an employer to ask a candidate on an interview. Understanding your rights as a job seeker is essential to planning your interview answers. Illegal interview questions include:
1. Are you married?
2. When do you plan to start a family?
3. How old are you?
4. Have you ever been arrested?
5. Do you smoke/drink/use illegal drugs?
6. Do you have any health concerns?
7. What country were you born in?
8. Is English your native language?
9. What religion do you practice?
10. Do you have any disabilities?
It is not enough to know what questions are illegal, you also need to carefully plan how you will respond to illegal questions.
• Inform them you will not answer the question at all
• Answer the question even though you know it is not mandatory
• Answer the “legal” aspects of the question only
• Change the conversation
