Are You Relying Solely On Yourself?

Elevation Requires Honesty!

I am totally honest with myself about my stuff and there are a lot more things that I want to share with my community in the spirit of authenticity and in an effort to support you on this (mind, body, spirit) journey to your next level.

CONFESSION 1: I am super independent. I mean way beyond finances – I am an overcoming control freak.

I learned to delegate but the truth is that I didn’t delegate because it was in my best interest. I delegated to ensure that the person that I was delegating to (whether at home or at work) developed necessary skills or was able to leverage certain opportunities. Today I fully recognize the depths of my years of self-sabotage.

Although I know that my abilities come from God, I really trusted myself to accomplish things. A good friend of mine once asked me, “Nicki, if you do everything, what is there for God to do”. That’s independence gone wrong. I realized that I was doing things ‘in my own strength’ and not surrendering and trusting God.

CONFESSION 2: For more than the first half of my life I prayed to God on others’ behalf, but I didn’t pray for myself or ask God for things for myself.

When I first began to pray for myself, I prayed for ‘reasonable’ things, small things – not the things that I really desired. Not proud of it and not going to beat myself up over it but I am owning it as my truth and moving forward embracing my birthrights as a child of God. I completed new vision boards this weekend and realized that over the years many things from my vision boards had materialized while many others have not. I have learned to be specific in my requests but also to put a little faith behind them and then take divinely directed actions on them.

If you are a person that is experiencing a little wavering in your faith or having a little trouble living life in the experience that abundance is your birthright, please know that it is normal, that you can’t do it all by yourself, and that you deserve every blessing.

I want to share a few easy to remember mantras/quotes/affirmations for your journey:

  • God is not checking your bank account; he is checking your faith.
  • God can afford your dreams.
  • Don’t downgrade your dream to match your reality, upgrade your faith to match your destiny.
  • Pray big. Believe bigger.
  • Ask Believe Receive
  • Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God.

And because you know I have a playlist for almost every occasion or transition, check out these songs:

  1. The Vision – Patrick Love & The A.L. Jinwright Mass Choir
  2. Speak – Myron Butler
  3. Manifest – Jonathan Nelson (featuring Purpose)
  4. Anything Can Happen – Jonathan Nelson
  5. Great Things – Preshea Hilliard

Happy Listening!
