If you will receive a student load refund at the end of this semester please DO NOT go on a shopping spree. Take a long, hard look at your wants versus your needs. What you spend today can strongly influence where you live, what you drive, and where you work ten years from now.
Avoid Buyer’s Remorse:
- Put the additional amount on your college tuition for the following semester so that you can take out a smaller loan in the future
- Pay for summer classes to lighten your work load during fall or spring semester
- Purchase school supplies – this may include a computer but refrain from going wild with new electronics
- Buy a good quality interview suit – no need for a full shopping spree
- Pay for professional development – funding an unpaid internship, job training program, industry conference, membership in a professional organization, or a professional development course can make you a highly sought after candidate once you earn your degree
- Save for an emergency or period of unemployment after graduation
