All are important qualities for CEO’s, managers, and interns alike. Each of these characteristics also apply to President Barack Obama.
On January 10, 2017, President Barack Obama will return home to Chicago to deliver his Farewell Address. I am filled with both joy and sadness.
The accomplishments of President Obama are many but to name a few – ended the recession, saved the American auto industry, eliminated Osama Bin laden, and instituted the affordable care act.
I am so grateful that President Obama and the First Family have led our nation with class, love, integrity, and compassion. I am filled with joy as I think of the thousands and thousands of images of a beautiful, strong, well-educated, loving, African American family that were shown across the world over the last 8 years. I am so grateful that horrible stereotypes were broken and minds were changed by a family that lived with grace and humility. I want more of that!!
I had the pleasure of attending both the 2008 and 2012 Presidential Inaugurations and I am sad to see President Obama go. I am even more saddened by the beliefs, disposition, and opportunism I see from the President-Elect. I am still holding on to HOPE – we need it now more than ever.

Summary: On Tuesday, January 10, I’ll go home to Chicago to say my grateful farewell to you.
In 1796, as George Washington set the precedent for a peaceful, democratic transfer of power, he also set a precedent by penning a farewell address to the American people.
And over the 220 years since, many American presidents have followed his lead.
I’m just beginning to write my remarks. But I’m thinking about them as a chance to say thank you for this amazing journey, to celebrate the ways you’ve changed this country for the better these past eight years, and to offer some thoughts on where we all go from here.
Since 2009, we’ve faced our fair share of challenges, and come through them stronger. That’s because we have never let go of a belief that has guided us ever since our founding—our conviction that, together, we can change this country for the better.
So I hope you’ll join me one last time.
Because, for me, it’s always been about you.
