Give Yourself Permission to Lead On Your Own Terms

I am a 70’s baby who spent a lot of time playing outdoors. In addition to growing up at a time when culturally children were to be seen and not heard, I played quite a few games that required permission to act – freeze tag, Simon Says, Mother May I. When I went to elementary school, I was required to walk in line to the cafeteria, go with my class to use the restroom at a specific time, and raise my hand before asking or answering a question of the teacher. In junior high school and high school, I was required to take certain classes and had little choice in my course selection. As an undergraduate and graduate student, I chose my major and was able to select the electives that were most closely related to my career goals but I still did not have true autonomy. What about life after graduation?

As a grown adult and social worker in the field, it is time to put away childish games and give yourself permission to lead on your own terms. Self-leadership is the true foundation of successful leadership. You are the leader in your career. You get to release the limiting beliefs and misconceptions placed on you by your social work professors, classmates, internship supervisor, colleagues, or employers. You have the ability to make different choices. You have the power and authority to reject self-sacrifice, self-sabotage and self-doubt. You have the opportunity to become the best version of yourself – both personally and professionally. You also have the opportunity to choose to be your authentic self without separation of your work self and after-work self.

Not sure how to utilize self-discipline and self-selection to achieve self-actualization? Career fulfillment is possible for you and available to you. On My Terms Private Leadership Coaching Program has you covered!
