Last week as I was writing my blog to inform you that I would be an Adjunct Professor this semester, fear crept in. What fear said to me this time was “you can’t do this well with all the other things you have going on” and then it followed up with “you are tying yourself down”. I went to bed and when I awoke what came to me was “Nicki, if Dr. Maya Angelou served successfully as a professor with her busy schedule and numerous projects then surely I can make this work with my schedule.” I now have a daily schedule that will allow me to meet my personal and professional goals.
Dr. Angelou received over 50 honorary degrees and was Reynolds Professor of American Studies at Wake Forest University.
There are two lessons I want you to take from this is:
- Fear really is false evidence appearing real and should be confronted head on
- Time management is an essential component to success. You have to prioritize what is important and schedule action into your day. Don’t just think – do.
