Human beings are always growing and developing. Some advancements are big and others are small. The trick is not to discount your wins.
What progress have you made in areas that are important to you? Have you learned a new skill, visited a new place, made a new friend, or adapted a healthier diet in the last one, three, or five years? Have you decreased or eliminated a harmful habit like smoking cigarettes?
We tend to compare ourselves to other people and to what society says we should do, be, and own. The problem with this is that when we compare ourselves to other people we generally do so in judgment comparing our weaknesses to their strengths. This unfair match up can damage our confidence and suppress our motivation. Life is a race of one. It’s time to stop looking for our faults and spend more time recognizing and nurturing our gifts. The only truly valuable comparisons are comparing our new and improved selves to yesterday’s self. This type of comparison can boost our growth and confidence.
A fulfilling life includes honoring our values, assets, and achievements. Realize that we are all different and embrace your uniqueness Instead of trying to be someone else or live up to someone else’s version of you. Learn to be yourself and enjoy the journey to greatness.
“I AM: Two of the most powerful words, for what you put after them shapes your reality.”
Our thoughts and words manifest in our actions and experiences. Take a few moments to write five positive affirmations about yourself. Be sure to use present tense. Review the affirmations daily for an added dose of motivation.
