Unconditional Love and Life-Long Connections

This past weekend I attended yet another funeral. A classmate I had known since elementary school passed suddenly. This friend and I graduated from elementary school, junior high school, and high school together. Many of our classmates celebrated his life together this weekend because we were more than classmates. We were a family and three decades later we are still family. #LOVE

I’ve blogged about the love I have for my old neighborhood, school, and very special teachers. Our Pre-Kindergarten teacher was at the homegoing service. She called our Kindergarten teacher on the telephone who sent her love although she couldn’t be in attendance. Education is about more than academics. We received a strong foundation that has carried us through our lives. We all love these women and they still love us.

It was sad reuniting with people I care about under these circumstances but a reminder to me of why I do what I do. Disruptions and disconnections should not be a regular part of life for anyone. Children and teens in foster care need and deserve unconditional love, nurturing, stability, and permanent relationships. Every Youth In Foster Care Deserves What I Had.
