I rarely use Facebook these days, but last Friday morning I posted a goal on my personal page and in the afternoon posted the same goal in 3 different social work Facebook groups.
“One of my professional goals for 2022 is to speak to more college students about building successful careers in social work and human services. #Declaration #manifestation”
I made the post to make a declaration, to share my goal, and more importantly to hold myself accountable. the result was numerous tags/referrals, two invitations by professors to speak to their classes, and a dozen social work students who said they would be interested in attending.
Do you know what happened next? I created a signature social work presentation that I will deliver, both virtually and in person, to undergraduate and graduate social work students and recent graduates. It was the push I needed to get out of my head and take action. Instead of just thinking about what I wanted to do, I used the momentum to create a tangible product.
