You Will Find Exactly What You’re Looking For

Currently, the world can seem like it’s upside down or that it is ushering in a much-needed shift.

Look around and you can see fear and faith. Hatred and love. Optimism and despair.

Biblical Principle: Seek and you shall find

Matthew 7:7; King James Version

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

Universal Truth: What you focus on expands

Spiritual Law: Energy flows where attention goes

The news on your homepage and your social media algorithm are a reflection of your interests and searches. If they are disturbing your peace, it’s time to change them.

If you’re looking for doom and gloom, you will find it. Know that you don’t have to be inundated with fear, destruction, and conspiracy theories. You don’t have to hope for the best and prepare for the worst. You can shift your focus to different things. Uplifting things. Better things.

When life is lifin’, you can still find peace, joy, and support. Escape the chaos by building community, reframing your language, programming your mind with positive affirmations and declarations, increasing your skills, following positive social media accounts, and practicing gratitude. Easier said than done, right? Of course it is.

Changing your world for the better will likely be an ongoing commitment, a process that won’t happen overnight. Remember to grant yourself grace.

CAUTION: Let me take this moment to say that we have had too many weather incidents, natural disasters, coincidences, and freak accidents not to personally and responsibly prepare for potential emergencies. Preparation over paranoia!

CAREER EXPLORATION: Emergency Preparedness and Disaster Management are fields where macro social workers can not only contribute but thrive.

Emergency preparedness focuses on being ready for potential crises. Key aspects of emergency preparedness include risk awareness, team building, critical information, alert and response procedures, and testing the plan.
Emergency response occurs in the immediate aftermath of an emergency. It typically involves first responders like firefighters or police officers responsible for rescuing individuals from harm’s way and mitigating further damage.  {Safety Culture}

Disaster preparedness serves as a proactive strategy to minimize loss of life, property damage, and social disruption. By having comprehensive plans in place, organizations, communities, and individuals can respond swiftly and effectively, reducing the chaos that often accompanies emergencies.  Disaster management is a critical process that aims to effectively prepare for and respond to disasters. It involves strategically organizing resources to mitigate harm caused by disasters. This systematic approach encompasses responsibilities related to disaster prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery. {Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine}
