I Am Open and Receptive

Personal development is as important to me as professional development.

Family, social class, religion, and a handful of other things shaped my view of money – and not in the best way. I used to say that I wanted to be comfortable, or I wanted all my bills paid, but now I know that I was afraid to say that I want to be rich. My social work career success combines macro social work, eco-social work, entrepreneurship, real estate, education, community development, and agriculture. My vision requires wealth, so I am building my wealth muscles. I am unlearning some things and uncovering some habits and limiting beliefs.

I am in a coaching group where we were given the task of spending $32,000 on ourselves. The money couldn’t be given away, spent on bills, or put invested in any account. I had to purchase at least 6 things for myself – no one else.

Now, I have absolutely no problem spending money on travel (which I did on previous days) but spending this amount specifically on myself was a challenge. I tried not to spend a huge amount on travel which took some time.

I am focusing on home and peace and comfort so here is my list:

1) Attic makeover/organization system – $10,000

2) Bedroom closet organization system – $10,000

3) iPhone 13 Mac – $2,000

4) Shopping spree with a personal shopper – $6,200

5) Telfar shopping bag – $300

6) I week farmhouse rental in Chester County, PA – $1,200

7) Gas, food, activities in Chester County, PA – $1,000

8) Farm photo shoot – $1,300

I am always a work in progress. Even though this is a hypothetical scenario, I found it difficult to center myself. I am getting better at prioritizing myself in all aspects of my life, but this activity shows that I have more work to do to increase my capacity and acceptance of wealth and abundance. I’m glad I recognized this and now I can grant myself grace (instead of judging myself) as I advance through my financial elevation process.

I also realized that by trying not to spend on travel I was denying myself and my true desires, just in a different way.

The journey back to me continues!

What would you spend $32,000 on for yourself on a minimum of 6 items in one day?

P.S. Abundance is our birthright!
