Can You Use A Bit More Structure In You Career Planning?

They say don’t look back because you’re not going that way but over the last year I’ve dedicated significant time to look back at my past professional experiences and entrepreneurial endeavors.

Providing structure is something that I do naturally but that I also developed into a marketable skill through my education and work experience. I realized on Monday that I had let my structure and daily routine fade away over the last couple of months. I felt myself returning to the path of being “booked and busy”.

Ummmm..NO! That realization stopped me in my tracks. Me and “booked and busy” already broke up and will not be getting back together. No way, so just go on and go on about your business now!

It was only when I slowed down and allowed myself to stop trying to “catch up” from the time I took off to celebrate my birthday that I realized that I have been creating to-do lists with tasks that needed to be completed but not setting weekly or monthly goals.

It was when I got still that I realized that I have 18 books that I have not read and that I haven’t read a complete book in about 8 months.

It was when I grounded myself in nature that I came to the realization that Authentic Nicki enjoys structure and routine because they provide more opportunities for more intentional focus and the freedom to be more spontaneous and adventurous.

Let this be your reminder that rest is not earned and that you can be more productive, efficient, and effective AFTER you pause and release.

Yes, I’ve replaced “booked and busy” with “productive and paid” and I invite you to join me.

Let me know if I can assist you or your agency with planning, processes, or productivity.
