I Didn’t Want to Call Myself a Social Work Career Coach

Let me reintroduce myself.

My name is Nicki Sanders. I am a master’s level social worker and the Founder and CEO of Nicki Sanders Leadership Consulting. I am a Social Work Career Coach for high-performing Women of Color in Social Work leadership. I am a high-performing Black woman. I have been a hiring manager and in leadership for 15 years. I am a college professor and mentor.

My personal leadership philosophy is that:

  1. Leadership is a privilege
  2. Leadership is about impact and influence, not a title
  3. Leadership is earned, not taken
  4. Leadership is about transformation, not transactions
  5. Great leaders create more great leaders

I love social work and the variety of opportunities available in the social work profession.

I believe that you are a brand, and your career is your business. I recognize that Women of Color in social work leadership struggle with doubt and visibility in the workplace. As a Black woman in social work leadership who previously dimmed her light, I am passionate about helping high-performing women social workers in leadership increase their confidence, honor their achievements, and level up in their careers. It’s time to stand in our power and mind the business that pays us.

Want to know why I didn’t want to call myself a Social Work Career Coach? Well, today, I decided to share another audio blog post. Check it out to learn why and feel free to share your thoughts.
