I Will Do Better

January is always a month of change and transition for me. I set big goals and work hard to eliminate old, unproductive habits. In January I’m ready to conquer the world. I ushered in 2013 with the same level of enthusiasm and intention but before I knew it the whole month had gone by.

Today is February 1st and I didn’t recognize a teen for SPOTLIGHT Teen of the Month. That saddens me.

I set a goal to notify each SPOTLIGHT Teen of the Month honoree and the person who nominated them 2-3 weeks in advance of publishing the feature. These young people deserve the best and not a quick bio thrown together to meet publishing deadlines. A three-week time frame gives us an opportunity to get the interview correct and share something that we all can be proud of.

Today, I want to apologize to my readers for my missteps in prioritizing all the tasks that needed to get done this month. Last year I wrote two blog posts that I want to (re)share with you today.

I will continue to provide a platform for youth in foster care to share their voices and be celebrates for their accomplishments. Please continue to nominate teens for SPOTLIGHT Teen of the MonthHelp us celebrate foster youth!

today i will
