I’ve Learned to Embrace Ease and Flow

People tend to confuse overworking with having a strong work ethic. I am not a workaholic and don’t want to be. I work hard and have a strong work ethic. Some days I work longer and harder than other days, but I do not subscribe to the idea that the only way to attain success and wealth is through 24/7 grind. I don’t want to “sleep when I die”. I want to get good sleep in my present life and increase my chances of living a long healthy life. I won’t celebrate being a “hustler” because that’s not who I am. I plan to “Think and Grow Rich”, which to me means mastering manifestation as much as it means using my intellect and connections to work smarter, not (physically) harder.

“Come and listen to my story about a man named Jed
A poor mountaineer, barely kept his family fed,
And then one day he was shootin’ at some food,
And up through the ground come a bubblin’ crude.
Oil that is, black gold, Texas tea.”

I watched a lot of TV with my mother as a little girl and The Beverly Hillbillies was one of our favorite shows and the theme song is awesome. Much like Jed Clampett, the things that were meant for me have come relatively easy to me. Although I recognize that my life has been filled with blessings and favor, I have taken on a lot of unnecessary worry and anxiety instead of going with the flow and trusting that things are working on my behalf. All things work together for my good – ALWAYS! A great example of this is the Uplevel Your Position Program.

You may have heard my advice to “being with the end in mind”. It’s solid advice that I stand by but this past April, the idea came to me to do something special for my community as a birthday gift from me. The idea that came to me was the Uplevel Your Position Challenge that would kickoff on April first. I planned the entire week. More than halfway through the delivery of the challenge I had the idea to turn the information into a course. The outline flowed to me so freely followed by the meat of the course. I launched in a beta group and received great feedback. Because of that feedback, the course became a program that is transformative and fun.

I’m so excited that today is Day 1 of the Uplevel Your Position Program for high-performing Women of Color in human services leadership!!!
