I’ve been avoiding and procrastinating about starting a YouTube channel for several years. At least 5 years and that’s not an exaggeration.
During my end-of-year reflection, I asked myself what I would be doing if I took my own advice, and the answer was creating a YouTube channel to share my ideas, experiences, and opportunities related to career development, professional development, and organizational development with a bit of personal development in the mix.
Why did it take so long if I’ve been posting videos to social media for years?
Because I let technology hold me back. I wanted to have all the best equipment. I don’t know video editing and don’t have a video editor on my team. I don’t know all the SEO and monetization strategies. Then I remembered those are all excuses.
“Done is better than perfect” as one of my previous business coaches would tell me when I let perfectionism reign. “Take action revise later” she would say. Well, this is an example of following through and implementing those mantras.

Why did I choose the title, “More Than Social Work”? For 3 reasons:
- Social work is more than therapy, child welfare, and medical social work and we will explore the diversity of the profession.
- I have used my social work education, experience, and expertise to do more than the traditional social work roles and I want to show you how you can too.
- We will explore more than social work oftentimes from a social work perspective.
