Happy Friday! It’s Day 5 in the Get Hired blog series. Are you ready for job search tip #4?

Question of the Day: Do you have your two essential lists handy?

If you haven’t written your skills list and your goals list see links to previous posts in this job search blog series below.

We are living in the information age – we can get a wireless connection to the internet from a dozen devices in a myriad of places. Blogs, ebooks, online courses, enewsletters, and social media provide new tips and strategies on almost any subject we can think of. Your local librarian and bookstore sales clerk are also happy to assist you in your quest for information. Let’s not forget your relatives, neighbors, and the guy in the coffee shop who all have information they are more than willing to share (whether you ask for their help or not). The media seizes every opportunity to inform you of the terrible economy and tough job market — big help right? Getting information is not a problem – getting valuable information while avoiding information overload can be a problem.

Job search tip #4: One Size Doesn’t Fit All

Job hunting is a very individual process. The same tips and strategies that landed your big sister a job in two weeks may not work for you in the same time frame. You may use the same steps but have to alter the order in which you implement them.

I invite you to sign up for my GET HIRED Strategy Session for 45 minutes of uninterrupted time with me to review your job search strategies. You and I will then work together to generate ideas and come up with creative solutions to employment issues or situations.
