Saying NO to Hustle and Grind

I made this post on my personal Facebook page today (4/17/23).

“As I look back over my life, I was never into hustle and grind culture. It didn’t make sense for my life.

I was intentional about taking jobs that allowed me to take my daughter to school and have flexibility for field trips, take her to work with me, and maximize winter, spring and summer breaks.

I always desired balance and made time for family and friends. Work was never my main priority even though I have always been a great employee.

I worked hard but I’m not a hustler. I’ve always chosen to work smart and believed that having a life after work is important.

Experiencing professional burnout and compassion fatigue were due to multiple issues and not simply a result of overworking (as in hours worked).

I never worked traditional part-time jobs just to have more money. I am an adjunct professor because I love my students. I initially started my business while working full-time to do more work that I love. This is my truth.

When I say that I am paid well to do work that I love and that comes naturally to me it is affirmation of answered prayers and recognition of my past and present lifestyle desires and choices.

DECLARATION: I am achieving wealth in an easy and relaxed manner 🙏🏽”

It is done!

FACT: You will never have more than you believe you are worth and never have more than you believe you can have.

Most of us can agree that it’s hard for children to become what they cannot see, yet we somehow think adults are exempt.

It sounds cliché’, but mindset really does matter. What I see holding many social workers back from career fulfillment (energized, well-paid, appreciation, autonomy) is their mindset and not their skill set.

Do you really need another degree, a higher-level license, a new network, or a new city to truly live your best life? I mean live your best life, not the life that society or your partner or your parent says is perfect for you.

I’m going to steer you away from traditional social work/human behavior and career development books and offer a new strategy today. Whether you believe in universal laws or spiritual principles, check out these resources:

  1. Think and Grow Rich – Napoleon Hill
  2. As A Man Thinketh – James Allen
  3. The Dream Giver – Bruce Wilkinson

I will never push my religion on anyone, but I won’t hide it either, so if you (like me) are a follower of Jesus Christ, check out the Bible.

  • Jeremiah 29:11
  • Matthew 7:7-8
  • Philippians 4:8
  • Ecclesiastes 10:19

After I hit publish on the post, a family member’s post showed up my timeline and provided divine confirmation of my post.  It was a prayer from her first customer of the day shared over the telephone. “I am so grateful that abundance comes to me now, so easily and effortlessly, and consistently on a daily basis. In Jesus’ name. -Amen”
