Should I Go To College?

Facebooktwitterpinterestlinkedinmail

With rising student loan debt and a slowly recovering economy many people – young and old – are asking themselves “should I go to college”? There are groups of people that believe that college is not for everyone and others who believe that every person needs a college degree to advance professionally and make a living wage.

Here are the realities:

  • Some people enroll in college right after high school while others may enter the workforce or start a business and never obtain a college degree.
  • Some people travel or enroll in a service program then attend college years after graduation.
  • Some people work for years and only enroll in college once they receive tuition assistance through the military or an employer.
  • Many students begin their college years in a community college then transfer to a four year institution.
  • Some people decide to pursue only an Associate’s degree while others continue onward to a Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree, or a doctorate degree.

Higher education is not one size fits all. We are all unique beings and the decision whether or not to enroll in college or when to enroll in college should be an individual choice. If you are currently unsure of which professional path to take I invite you to connect with me for academic or career development coaching.
