Take More Photos

I never had a need for a selfie stick because I rarely take photos. For years I put off scheduling a professional photo shoot. For many more years I dodged cameras at family events, professional events, and even on vacation. The reasons were endless – I need my hair done, I don’t like this outfit, I’m too skinny, I’ve gained too much weight, I just ate, next time I will. My favorite excuses my grandmother and mother don’t like taking photos either. The real truth is I didn’t want all the attention.

Social media essentially forces us to take pictures – there is even a selfie stick!! In the last year I’ve decided to take more photos. I have determined that I will take at least one photo at every conference or on every trip I attend. Guess what happened when I made that decision? Not only do I have memories that will last a lifetime but I’ve found that in the moment I say “cheese” and smile for the camera my gratitude increases. I am in fact enjoying the moment more because I am savoring the moment. As a person who is always busy, thinking about her next task, or helping someone else ‘living in the moment’ has not been one of my strongest personality traits.
I’ve jumped on the bandwagon and I like it – TAKE MORE PHOTOS!!
