I dedicate the end of the year to giving, resting and reflection.
Christmas is my favorite holiday and favorite time of year. Our annual Pack A Purse™ Drive is a significant undertaking that spans all of the month of November and the majority of December. Serving foster youth in this way is an amazing way to close out my year. Although December is probably my most physically busy and possibly most stressful time of year the last two weeks are also my most slow and quiet time of year.
Christmas movies are my favorite genre of movies. I spend quite a few November and December nights unwinding to the happy endings of Christmas movies on Hallmark Channel and Freeform. It’s the best way for me to slow down after a busy day of working, teaching, shopping and sorting, packing, delivering purses filled with toiletries to teen girls in group homes, foster homes, and homeless shelters.
Reflection – a fixing of the thoughts on something; careful consideration
Perhaps my most powerful end of year tradition is to I set aside time for reflection of my achievements, disappointments, relationships, activities, work, and impact. I then reflect on my plans and goals for the coming year.
STAY TUNED for a few flashbacks and the results of my 2017 reflection time.
What are your end of year traditions?
