My Uplevel Your Self-Talk Career Development Challenge kicks off TODAY and is an illustration of communication in the STRETCH framework. Good communication is essential to career development and advancement. You must be able to interact and collaborate with your supervisor and coworkers and also share your ideas and advocate for yourself if you want to progress in your career.
The words we speak to ourselves and about ourselves aloud and in our heads are our self-talk. It is the ongoing internal dialogue we have with ourselves both consciously and subconsciously throughout most of the day. Our self-talk impacts how we feel about ourselves, how we feel about what is possible for us, how we connect and engage with others, and how believe that the world sees us. Our inner dialogue can be accurate, positive, and encouraging, or it can be negative, exaggerated and disempowering. In short, our self-talk impacts our self-confidence, self-image, and self-efficacy.
