Welcome back to our Get Hired job search series! So glad you’re joining us.
On yesterday I asked the question “Where Are You Now?”? I hope you took the time to create your list.
Question Of the Day: Where Do You Want To Go?
Did you know that June 21 was National Take Your Dog to Work Day? I have nothing against dogs but I have no desire to spend my working hours with them. Therefore, I know that a company that allows employees to bring their pets to work is not the company for me.
Clarity is essential to a successful job search. You must know what you want and what you are unwilling to accept.
- Some people just want a job any job.
- Others have a minimum salary requirement.
- Someone else may be willing to travel frequently or even relocate.
- Other job seekers desire a flexible schedule.
- Paid vacations, sick leave, and health, dental, and vision benefits may be a priority.
- Many workers thrive in the outdoors while others desire an office environment.
Tip #3: Write down your idea of the perfect job.
Here are things to consider as you draft your list salary, benefits package, location, industry, population served, schedule, dress code, physical requirements, skill requirements, advancement potential, professional development opportunities, and company values.
Once your first list is complete, number the categories based on their importance to you.
Keep your lists handy and stay tuned for tip #4 tomorrow. See ya!
