Yes, I’m A Social Worker

No, I don’t have a clinical license and no I don’t do therapy.

But, yes, I’m a social worker.

With nearly two decades of program development and management experience, I have managed multiple public/private partnerships.

I have been responsible for meeting the program objectives of small grants from local community agencies and larger government contracts.

I’ve advocated and testified in front of county and city council members.

I’ve worked with teams on successful fundraising events in large venues as well as in the homes of wealthy donors.

I’ve coordinated holiday drives, clothing drives, and feminine hygiene drives.

I’ve organized and facilitated focus groups and research projects.

I’ve run parenting groups, social skills groups, life skills groups, and peer education groups.

I’ve supervised volunteers and multi-disciplinary teams of interns and masters-level staff.

And do you know what? It is all social work!

Social work is more than child welfare, therapy, and hospitals.

Macro social work is social work.

Mezzo social work is social work.

Corporate social work is social work.

Hmmmm…corporate social responsibility or corporate social work anyone?
