April is Much More Than My Birthday Month

April is a significant month for me.

Because where others see separate observances…
I see a leadership pipeline.

April is:

  • National Internship Awareness Month
    • Stress Awareness Month
    • Financial Literacy Month

And at the intersection of all three is a conversation we are not having enough in leadership spaces.

As a social work leader who has supervised and developed interns across multiple degree programs since 2013, I’ve had a front-row seat to the leadership pipeline in real time.

I’ve seen where it works.
I’ve seen where it breaks.

And I’ve seen how often we expect emerging professionals to perform at high levels without providing structured, strategic development.

Internships are not just learning experiences.

They are leadership incubators—whether we treat them that way or not.

As a leadership strategist, I understand capacity and sustainability.

As an advocate for professional advancement, I understand the direct link between financial stability and leadership confidence.

This is exactly where S.O.F.T. Leadership™ lives.

Strategy.
Opportunity.
Fulfillment.
Transformation.

April invites us to ask:

  • How are we preparing emerging professionals before they enter leadership pipelines?
    • What does it look like to lead without chronic stress being normalized as commitment?
    • How does financial literacy shape who feels empowered to lead, negotiate, and advance?

Because the truth is—

You cannot build sustainable leadership on burnout.
You cannot develop talent without intention.
And you cannot talk about advancement without addressing financial empowerment.

If your organization is recognizing:

✔ National Internship Awareness Month
✔ Stress Awareness Month
✔ Financial Literacy Month

Let’s move beyond awareness.

Let’s talk about how internships are structured—and who they actually serve.
Let’s address stress as a leadership and systems issue, not a personal failure.
Let’s integrate financial literacy into professional development—not as an afterthought, but as a leadership competency.

Let’s build leadership cultures that are:

Strategic in development.
Intentional in support.
Sustainable in execution.

Whether you’re looking for:
• A keynote
• An interactive workshop
• A leadership retreat
• A facilitated dialogue for your team

I design experiences that challenge, equip, and transform—grounded in real strategies for professionals navigating real pressure.

If April is a month your organization plans to focus on workforce development, well-being, or financial empowerment—let’s make it strategic.

Not just awareness.
Alignment.

Not just conversation.
Capacity.
