Elevation and Evolution Are Ongoing Processes

I am not the same person I was five years ago. Or three years ago. Or one year ago. Neither are you – and that’s a good thing!

We are in a constant state of change and the goal is for that change to be an improvement.

Have you stopped recently to think about how you have grown and the progress you’ve made? When is the last time you celebrated your successes – big and small?

What is your next professional challenge or goal? How do you want to advance personally and professionally?

  • Start a business?
  • Buy a home?
  • Get a promotion?
  • Take a solo trip?
  • Earn a degree?

Elevation and evolution are ongoing processes. If you’re not growing in your career then your career is dying.

What do you feel is standing in the way of your progress? Let’s rephrase that question to shift the focus to what you want instead of what you hope doesn’t derail your progress.

  • How can I get to ___________?
  • What will I need to eliminate to ____________?
  • What do I need to gain to _____________?

You get the picture.

In addition to reframing negative thinking, here are 5 additional ways to further your growth and advancement:

  1. Be honest with yourself about your goals, needs, and fears.
  2. Grant yourself grace. Stop criticizing yourself and comparing yourself to other people.
  3. Eliminate negative people and habits from your life.
  4. Fill your life with positivity – people, music, experiences, affirmations, and reading.
  5. Do at least one thing every day that brings you closer to your goals.

When working toward your goals, it is also helpful to concentrate on the process and not just the outcome. Reflect on what you are learning about yourself in the process and how you are thriving. Oh, and remember not to concentrate so much on your future goals that you forget to enjoy your present accomplishments.
