Your job and job search should not put a significant strain on your mental health and well-being.

CAREER JOURNEY TRUTHS:

  • You can define social work career success on your own terms.
  • You don’t have to be overworked, underpaid, and unappreciated.
  • Social workers do not take a vow of poverty.
  • Social work skills are high-income skills.
  • Career fulfillment is possible for you and available to you.

Let’s put these principles to work in 2 ways this month:

  1. You Can’t Pour From An Empty Cup: Self-Love, Self-Care and Self-Preservation for Women in Social Work
  2. Uplevel Your Position Career Development Program for Social Work Students and Recent Graduates

Virtual Workshop: You Can’t Pour From An Empty Cup: Self-Love, Self-Care and Self-Preservation for Women in Social Work

Date: Thursday, May 18, 2023

Time: 6:30pm-8:30pm

Investment: $49.00

Many women in social work are wearing multiple hats in the home and on the job – carrying heavy caseloads, coordinating community support, and smiling through the mental, physical, and emotional burdens. The mental and emotional wellness of a social worker is just as important as the mental and emotional wellness of their client. Exhaustion, overwhelm, and frustration do not have to be a part of our ongoing social work career story. It appears that social workers are experiencing higher levels of professional burnout and compassion fatigue after the coronavirus pandemic and that the pandemic often resulted in new depths of self-doubt, self-sabotage, and self-sacrifice as social workers navigated the new world. I admit that it can be hard to prioritize yourself and your wellness when you have a career focused on helping others, however, doing so is essential to a long and successful social work career.

So Ladies…

It’s time that we prioritize ourselves and our own wellness.

It’s time that we come together for sisterhood and support.

It’s time that we trade in the hustle and grind for ease and flow.

It’s time for the soft life! It’s time to invest in yourself!

It is time we disconnect our work from our worth, recognize that being overworked is not a badge of honor, and refuse to continue to deplete ourselves for a paycheck.
