Every great leader possesses confidence, competence, and credibility.

  • Lead with CONFIDENCE!
  • Display Your COMPETENCE!
  • Trust Your CREDIBILITY
  1. Confidence – a feeling of self-assurance arising from one’s appreciation of one’s own abilities or qualities; full trust; belief in the powers, trustworthiness, or reliability of a person or thing

There will always be someone who doesn’t see your worth. Don’t let it be you.

Nicki’s Note: Comparison Destroys Confidence

Leaders must create the vision for their team to attach themselves to. If you don’t believe in yourself your team won’t believe in you. Fear and doubt will prevent you from making wise decisions and taking essential but unpopular action. Confidence allows you to stand firm in your choices and abilities.

  2. Competence – the ability to do something successfully or efficiently; possession of required skill, knowledge, qualification, or capacity;

Creativity is not a substitute for competence. -Mason Cooley

Nicki’s Note: Egotism Destroys Competence

Training and professional development for managers is essential for success. Don’t let your pride keep you from being a beginner and a life-long learner. An incompetent manager can decrease employee morale and loyalty and ruin a company’s reputation.

  3. Credibility – the quality of being trusted and believed in; the quality of being convincing or believable

The more you are willing to accept responsibility for your actions, the more credibility you will have. – Brian Koslow

Nicki’s Note: Deception Destroys Credibility

As a manager, one way to build credibility is to hold yourself accountable for your decisions and actions. Take responsibility for your mistakes and give credit where credit is due.
