As my long-time blog readers and social media followers know, I am passionate about teens in foster care. No one can survive alone and certainly no one can thrive alone. We all need support and a support system. Instead of forcing instantaneous independence on young people who have experienced trauma and disruption just because they reach a specific birthday, we need to encourage interdependence as a lifestyle. 3. Join our Annual Drives to support foster youth.
Many youth in foster care move frequently. They also often carry their limited belongings in garbage bags. This is unacceptable. You can support our annual drives as an Ambassador, sponsor, donor, or volunteers.
Pack A Backpack™ Drive is our annual National Foster Care Month campaign to raise awareness for and provide backpacks (duffel bags and luggage) filled with personal hygiene items to teen males in foster homes, group homes, and homeless shelters.
Pack A Purse™ Drive is our annual Christmas campaign to raise awareness for and provide purses (backpack, duffel bags and luggage) filled with personal hygiene items to teen girls in foster homes, group homes, and homeless shelters.
