Happy New Year!
I love the magic of new beginnings. January 1, 2020 is the beginning of a new month, a new year, and a new decade.
I am grateful for the lessons, opportunities, and accomplishments of 2019 and excited about what 2020 has in store for me both personally and professionally.
How did you bring in the new year? Here is my recap of where I was professionally at the beginning of the last five decades of my life:
- 1980 – I was too young to remember anything significant. New Edition didn’t release Candy Girl until 1983.
- 1990 – I was a high school senior prepping for adulthood
- 2000 – I was working in a Home-Based Head Start Program while job hunting (prior to starting my MSW program)
- 2010 – I was the mother of a high school senior prepping my daughter for adulthood
- 2020 – I am an entrepreneur prepping my management clients on how to get promoted to their dream job and a college professor prepping my students on thriving in the workforce after graduation
Do you have a new resolution, mantra or a word for the new year?
My word for 2020 is VICTORY! I am expecting and claiming victory in each endeavor I pursue in 2020. As I do whenever I enter a significant new phase in y life, I have already created my VICTORY music playlist!
Words have power. My word for the year is the guiding principle that I selected not only to support me as I work toward my goals but also to maintain my thoughts and focus on the things that matter most. Victory is not only a reminder of my strength but also a goal to pursue. I am victorious!
