If you know me then you know that I LOVE, LOVE New Edition.
New Edition has provided the musical soundtrack of my life since Candy Girl was released by Streetwise Records on March 1, 1983.
- Ronnie, Bobby, Ricky, Mike, and Ralph.
- Ronnie, Johnny, Ricky, Mike, and Ralph.
- Ralph Tresvant, Bobby Brown, and Johnny Gill as Heads of State.
- Bobby, Johnny, and Ralph as solo artists.
- Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, and Ronnie DeVoe as Bell, Biv, DeVoe (BBD).
- Ronnie, Bobby, Ricky, and Mike as RBRM.
My favorite combination is all 6 members of New Edition together as one cohesive unit – Ronnie, Bobby, Ricky, Mike, Ralph, and Johnny.
New Edition’s ‘All Six’ tour was my second favorite concert because of the music, showmanship, nostalgia, brotherhood, and overall production. The best concert I ever attended was Boyz II Men at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts with the National Symphony Orchestra. The acoustics in the building and the blending of their natural voices with the orchestra was amazing. The instruments did not drown them out but complemented them.
Let me pause here to make it clear that New Edition is NOT A Boy Band. Thirty-eight (38) years after Candy Girl and New Edition is literally the only group that can do a Verzuz Battle against itself. #ne4life
- New Kids on the Block (NKOTB) was patterned after New Edition’s winning formula by Maurice Starr after being fired by New Edition.
- Boyz II Men was discovered and managed by Michael Bivins and their name was taken from a New Edition song.
- Only two members of Dru Hill, two members of Jodeci, and one member of Tony! Toni! Toné! had successful solo careers.
On July 7, 2021, Creative Arts Agency (CAA) announced that they now represent all six New Edition members and will oversee the band “in all areas worldwide, including Music Touring, Theatre, Literature, TV/Film, Production, and Composing, among many others.” CAA also announced plans for a U.S. arena tour as well as a residency in Las Vegas. Here are 5 career lessons that can be learned from this deal.

I spent my 40th birthday at a BBD concert and I couldn’t be more excited that I will get to spend the last year in my 40’s with New Edition. My Favorite New Edition Member Songs:
- I don’t have a favorite New Edition song because I can’t choose just one. If forced I would choose Candy Girl because that’s where it all started.
