Breaking Barriers During Social Work Month 2023

I kicked off National Social Work Month and Women’s History Month with a Mind and Manna YouTube channel interview with Sunya Williams Folayan on March 1, 2023. The topic was Choosing You At This Stage of Life.

I had a great time returning to the Millennial Social Work Conference, March 3-4, 2023, in Atlanta, GA, where I presented, “You Can’t Pour From An Empty Cup: Self-Love, Self-Care, and Self-Preservation for Social Workers. This was my first in-person conference since the coronavirus pandemic began in 2020.

I collaborated with social workers on LinkedIn to complete a list of 26 fields of social work using the alphabet. That list was combined with 2 other lists to create Social Work A to Z: What Can I Do with A Social Work Degree? This free resource can be downloaded on the Resources page on my website.

You know I love supporting students. I enjoyed presenting to Master of Social Work students at Johnson C. Smith University and the Macro Social Work Student Network (MSWSN) at Columbia University.

I posted a social work career coach livestream each day of Social Work Month on my LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram pages. Catch up on any of the daily videos that you may have missed (@nickisandersceo).

And as an avid self-care advocate, I attended the New Edition Legacy Tour in Washington, DC, and in Atlanta, GA. Music and New Edition are self-care. #ne4life

I am breaking barriers in social work by challenging the old, narrow view of social work and championing the diversity and vast opportunities available in the social work profession.

REMINDER: Social work skills are high-income, highly transferable skills.

What is your most memorable moment, biggest achievement, new revelation, or significant contribution during Social Work Month 2023?
